Not surprisingly, former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion Conor McGregor was slapped with a lawsuit on Thursday for the cell-phone rampage that occurred earlier this week in Miami, Florida (watch the video here).

What is surprising, is that the victim is only seeking $15,000.

Ahmed Abdirzak, 22, accused McGregor of battery, assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress, according to Associated Press, but the Irishman’s criminal defense attorney is calling the lawsuit “a quick effort seeking a payday.”

Well duh.

As the story goes, Abdirzak was attempting to photograph the “Notorious” mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter in the early morning hours outside a hotel. While we don't know what dialogue was exchanged, something upset “angry” McGregor, prompting him to grab the victim’s cell phone and later destroy it.

That led to McGregor’s arrest, along with a pair of felony charges.

“He walked away with that trademark McGregor strut that you see him enter the ring with in UFC,” Abdirzak told Daily Mail about their early-morning encounter. “I’m not going to lie, I was scared for my life – the guy is a lethal weapon.”

McGregor, who plead not guilty before getting released from Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on $12,500 bond (see the video here), is scheduled to be arraigned on April 10.

It should be noted this marks the third lawsuit (and second arrest) for McGregor since 2016, following the water-bottle wars with Nate Diaz and the Brooklyn bus attack that injured UFC welterweight Michael Chiesa.
