The incident involving Italy's Oscar Gatto and Poland's Rafal Majka of the Bora-Hansgrohe team occurred just over two miles into the 13.4-mile time trial in Lido di Camaiore, Italy, according to AFP.

"Oscar Gatto has quite a lot of bruises while Rafal Majka went down hard," team doctor Jan-Niklas Droste said, according to VeloNews. "He has a hematomas and abrasions on his head, and we will have to run additional tests and diagnostics in order to evaluate whether the impact caused a concussion or not."

Both were reportedly going to continue competing in the race.

As for the pedestrian, he was taken to a hospital, but his condition was reported not to be serious.

Three-time world champion Peter Sagan of Slovakia avoided the collision in conditions already hazardous because of rain, AFP reported.

Another incident involving a pedestrian occurred later in the race. A woman walking her dog nearly caused another crash. The announcer called it stupidity on the part of the marshals to allow that to happen.
