Mercedes star Lewis Hamilton will start from the pole position for the Portuguese Grand Prix after posting the fastest qualifying time Saturday at Algarve International Circuit in Portimao, Portugal.

Hamilton will look to break Michael Schumacher's record of 91 career Formula 1 wins during Sunday's race.

"I can't tell you how hard that was today," Hamilton said after qualifying. "I've just seen that Valtteri (Bottas) topped every (practice) session, and I've just been digging to find the time."
