Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series race featured tension a bit higher than usual because the Apache Warrior 400 was the first playoff elimination race of the season.

And you could hear that tension (and frustration) loud and clear on the radio scanner audio from Dover International Speedway, particularly from Kurt Busch - this season's Daytona 500 winner who ultimately fell short of advancing to the Round of 12. The 2004 Cup Series champion had a rough opening round in the playoffs.

From the beginning of Busch's race - which his brother, Kyle Busch, ended up winning - the Stewart-Haas Racing driver's struggles were known, as he demanded "(expletive) updates on who's coming from behind!"

There was also this funny but unfortunate evaluation of his No. 41 Ford's situation early in the race.

Busch: We're just screwed. We're neck down, (expletive) up because we don't have any pace to pull the rear end down.

Other highlight quotes from the race audio include Danica Patrick adorably asking how boyfriend and championship contender Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was doing, and Clint Bowyer's spotter, Brett Griffin, having a great reaction to Jeffrey Earnhardt spinning into the kind of barrels seen on the highway:

"(Expletive), (expletive), (expletive)! He his a (expletive) barrel!"

Stenhouse was among the 12 drivers to advance to the next round of the Cup Series playoffs. Along with Kurt Busch, Kasey Kahne, Ryan Newman and Austin Dillon were eliminated.
