The funeral of cat litter chemist Lin Wang was on June 9, 2018 — the day after the Warriors won the NBA Finals. In attendance? Former NBA star and current TNT basketball analyst Charles Barkley.

The story of friendship between Wang and Barkley was beautifully captured by Wang's daughter Shirley in a Friday article titled, "My Dad's Friendship With Charles Barkley." The story has been retweeted more than 20,000 times on Twitter, and shared by many others who read it.

The unlikely pair met four years ago in Sacramento when Wang went up to Barkley at a bar wanting to take a photo with him. They started a conversation, and eventually ate dinner together later that evening. They hung out three nights in a row, and Barkley gave his number to Wang and said they should hang out whenever he's in Atlanta, New York City or Phoenix.

So they did.

The full story of their relationship is worth a read as several others have been praising how incredible it is.

"I know how much his friendship with Charles Barkley meant to my dad. It was not just a relationship with a celebrity — it shed light on the possibilities of this world," Shirley Wang wrote. "A world where someone like him could just say something cool, something charming, and befriend someone like Charles Barkley."
