Nets fans finally have Kyrie Irving back — who scored 32 points in Brooklyn’s loss on Tuesday — but they’re still waiting for Kevin Durant to return to action and make his debut with the organization he signed with over the summer.

The Nets and Durant have been firm in their stance since the team held media day right before the start of camp: the superstar is not expected to play for Brooklyn in 2019-20. He is still rehabbing his right Achilles, which he ruptured during the 2019 NBA Finals while he was still with the Golden State Warriors.

Kenny Atkinson recently expressed Durant’s rehab is progressing well.

But the forward still has a way to go, which can make the process difficult, as he expressed when he took over The Boardroom Twitter account on Tuesday and answer a fan who asked him what’s the hardest part of his recovery:

Just the everyday grind, some days I get irritated by how slow the process is, some days I miss playing, some days I want to do more than I’m allowed. Then there’s the physical side, lifting weights and getting used to movement after six months off…

Durant continued:

It gets better every day but it’s good to have patience…wishing u well on the road to recovery.

For those who’ve thought Atkinson’s recent comments about Durant’s progress were a sign he’s going to return this year, these latest words from the forward seem to align with Brooklyn’s original stance: don’t expect him to play in 2019-20.
