What to Watch for

Two teams going in opposite directions

The Wizards have won three straight games after starting the season 2-9. The Nets meanwhile, have lost three straight after going on a five-game winning streak.

To be fair to Brooklyn, the Nets’ last three games were against the Warriors, the Timberwolves in their “we’re not mad Jimmy Butler wanted out, we’re actually laughing, this is hilarious to us” game, and the Heat. It would be hard for any team to do well in that stretch, especially once you factor in the loss of Caris LeVert in the middle of it all.

Planning for a new Brooklyn

As we saw last season, any time you lose your best player for an extended amount of time, it forces the rest of the team to pick up a new identity to adapt.

Problem is, there isn’t a clear second option to step up in LeVert’s absence, which contributed to some of the issues in Wednesday’s loss against Miami. Spencer Dinwiddie was the team’s leading scorer but he did it while coming off the bench and attempting the fourth-most shots behind D’Angelo Russell, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, and Shabazz Napier.

If he makes an appearance in this game, odds are the Wizards are on their way to their fourth-straight win or else something has gone horribly, horribly wrong for Washington.

A random moment in Wizards - Nets history: Washington goes 0-for-2 in the layup line
