The Houston Rockets' official Twitter account, which was suspended Monday, was back up and running Thursday morning, but it lost nearly a million followers in the process.

The Rockets' account, along with the accounts of several college football teams, were suspended due to previous video posts that used copyrighted music. The Rockets had more than 2.8 million Twitter followers on Monday morning. That follower count was down to 1.91 million Thursday.

For comparison, the San Antonio Spurs have 3.42 million followers on Twitter, while the Dallas Mavericks have 1.57 million followers. The Los Angeles Lakers have the most followers in the NBA with 7.6 million.

As of Monday, the Twitter accounts for college football programs at Iowa, Iowa State, Auburn and Rutgers all still were suspended.

In 2018, there was a rash of college football Twitter accounts that were temporarily suspended – including the University of Texas – for similar reasons. In most cases, those accounts were restored later in the day.
