The Philadelphia 76ers traded forward Jerami Grant to the Oklahoma City Thunder for forward Ersan Ilyasova and a future, protected first-round pick, a person familiar with the deal told USA TODAY Sports.

The person requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly until the trade is announced.

Ilyasova gives the Sixers a three-point threat that should help them space the floor, and he’s a rugged rebounder. He is the final season of a five-year, $40 million contract and will be an unrestricted free agent after next season.

Grant is averaging eight points and 3.5 rebounds in 20.6 minutes per game for the Sixers in two games. Grant’s contract is not fully guaranteed for 2016-17, and the team has an option on his contract for 2017-18.

The trade puts Oklahoma City under the salary cap for this season, and potentially gives the Thunder flexibility moving forward, especially after signing guard Victor Oladipo and center Steven Adams to extensions on Monday.

The first-round pick Oklahoma City traded to Philadelphia is protected for picks 1-20 in 2020. If the first-round pick isn’t conveyed, it turns into two future second-round picks: one in 2022 and one in 2023.
