Former Arizona basketball player Michael Wright was found dead in the backseat of an SUV under a pile of trash bags Tuesday morning in Brooklyn, the Daily News reported.

An autopsy has been scheduled to determine exactly how Wright died, though he was found with a head wound. The Daily News' sources say he was bipolar and may have committed suicide.

Wright was reported missing from Bergen County, N.J. According to neighbors in Brooklyn's Midwood neighborhood, the Lexus had been sitting on the street since Sunday.

Named to Sporting News' Freshman All-American team, the Chicago native played for Arizona from 1998-2001 and helped the Wildcats to the 2001 NCAA title game, where they fell to Duke. He was drafted by the Knicks in 2001 but played in only 99 NBA games over three seasons.

Wright played in Poland, Turkey and France after that. According to family members, he was back in the U.S. between European gigs.

"He left his French team in February and was planning to go back to Europe and play," Randolph Berry, Wright's cousin, told the Chicago Sun-Times Wednesday. "He wasn't planning on retiring."
