Walker finished with a career-high 34 points. It's the first time in two decades that a Division I player — in either men's or women's play — accomplished such a feat, according to STATS. Cincinnati's Steve Logan was the last player to do so in 2002, when he outscored Southern Mississippi 41-37.

Walker, a sophomore who averages 11.0 points game, shot 11 of 16 from the field. Tulane's game plan centered on containing UConn's leading scorers, Katie Lou Samuelson and Napheesa Collier, paving the way for Walker to take over.

"I think since we got back from Christmas, Megan has had a different approach to the game," Huskies coach Geno Auriemma said. "Her effort is different. Her intensity level is different ... These are the kind of games where you just need one person to step up because everyone else is struggling to make any kind of shot. Today, it was her."

UConn (15-1, 4-0 American Athletic Conference) is ranked No. 2 in the USA TODAY Coaches poll — behind No. 1 Notre Dame.
