Adam Schefter confirms that Dez Bryant video exists

A video of Dallas Cowboys wide receiver doing something that sounds incriminating does, in fact, exist — at least according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

During an appearance on the “Carmen and Jurko Show” on ESPN 1000 in Chicago Wednesday, Schefter said that there is a video and that he has been working on it since September. Schefter would not go into detail but did say “yeah” when asked if he has heard about the video and knows what is on it. He has not, however, seen the alleged footage.

“I have not seen it,” Schefter said, per Kevin O’Brien of The Sun Times. “I’ll say this: I’ve been working on this since September. … There’s a lot involved.”

In other words, Schefter would not have spent nearly six months digging into the story if there was nothing there. He must have some good sources telling him that the video is more than just a rumor. Still, Schefter said he is unsure when asked if the video will ever go public.

“Well listen, whatever we’ve been working on is not ready and maybe it never will be,” he said. “Who knows? You’ve got to be very careful on these things. People can talk about videos, they can talk about this they can talk about that. The fact of the matter is, it doesn’t mean anything and it’s really not fair to him right now until you have all your facts in line. Which we spent a long time trying to do.”

This feels like it is quickly turning into a “where there’s smoke, there’s fire” situation. We have already heard that the existence of a video that could have a Ray Rice-like impact might be holding up Bryant’s contract discussions with the Cowboys. While the Cowboys have denied having any knowledge of the video, they must know something about it if Schefter and company have been looking into it for months.

Those of you who have seen the Ray Rice elevator video know that anything worse than that could make Bryant borderline unemployable.
