Alex Smith undergoes surgery, not ‘career-threatening’

Though it looked bad, Washington Redskins quarterback Alex Smith didn't suffer a career-ending injury Sunday.

Smith suffered a gruesome injury that looked just like Joe Theismann's from the 80s, but a new report says Smith should be able to keep playing:

Of course, Smith has to want to come back. He's 34 years old and may never have the same mobility again after recovering. His contract also doles out about $30 million in injury guarantees over the next two seasons.

But if Smith wants to make it back, it sounds like he won't have any problems doing so outside of a normal rehab routine. Until then, the Redskins are the Colt McCoy show.
