Cowboys work out Josh Jones, multiple wideouts Tuesday

The injury bug has arrived for the Dallas Cowboys. So far, it's relatively tame in terms of NFL injuries, but the depth of this team is about to be tested. With the news of safety Xavier Woods injury, the Cowboys will be working out former Green Bay Packer safety Josh Jones.

And because of the issues at wide receiver, they'll also be working out a couple of wide receivers as well.

Jones is a former second-round pick out of North Carolina State who's tenure as a Packer was short lived, flaming out quickly after starting in 12 contests across two seasons. In that time he had one interception and the Packers decided to move on, releasing him in late August.

Cowboys Wire's Burke Downer suggested a marriage between the two back in May.

With wide receiver Michael Gallup out for, as of now, an undetermined amount of time with a knee surgery scheduled for Tuesday, the Dallas Cowboys are working out a couple of young wide receivers. It's unclear if this workout is due to the injuries to Gallup and fellow receiver Tavon Austin, or if it's just business as usual roster churning to potentially refill the depth of the position, presumably on the practice squad.

For those unfamiliar with wide receivers Quincy Adeboyejo and DaMarkus Lodge, that's plenty fine. Both players attended Ole Miss and neither was drafted. Adeboyejo signed as an undrafted free agent in 2017 with the Baltimore Ravens. He played in only one game, the season finale, where he played in a total of 38 snaps, 21 of them offensively. He is yet to record his first NFL reception.

Lodge signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after the draft but was released in late August as the team trimmed their roster to the final 53-man squad.

As it stands, the Cowboys have only one receiver on their practice squad, Ventell Bryant.
