Pats fans think Sports Illustrated cover features proof of ref's conspiracy

© Provided by USA Today Sports It’s been three days since the Denver Broncos beat the New England Patriots fair and square on Sunday Night Football, yet Patriots fans still can’t let go of their misguided belief that the refs were somehow biased against them instead of incompetent like every other NFL officiating team. Their newest rallying point is this Sports Illustrated cover featuring Patriot-defeater Brock Osweiler. (If they’re giving out covers for that, shouldn’t Ted Wells have gotten one too?)

That’s just a great photo from top to bottom. Anyway, Patriots fans see the hook a Broncos player is giving to No. 99 Dominique Easley and are crying foul about another uncalled foul on the Broncos. I’m not going to directly embed the tweets because I don’t want to expose anyone to the rantings of a deluded fanbase that can’t appreciate what it has, what it’s been given and what has been decreed from on high, but here’s a link if your Wednesday is going slowly.

Get all that? Here’s my response: Come on, guys, are you really serious about this? There’s holding on every single play in the NFL. Seriously, on every play ever run in the 2015 season, a flag could be thrown for holding — and it feels like one has. I went back and looked for an SI cover that also had a probable holding on it and it took me literally 20 seconds.

Ray Edwards didn’t just end up on the ground by himself, you know!

Plus, we don’t even know what happened on that Osweiler play! Unless you went and checked the tape for when Easley got a rush on Osweiler (I tried to but gave up after 20 minutes) you don’t know whether this went for a touchdown, interception, incompletion or sack. Everything’s on the table!

So stop your moaning. Also, it’s not like you have to open your mailbox to see this so-called indignity anyway. This is a regional cover (LeBron James is on the national one) and will only be available in Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming. Thank goodness Middle America’s eyes will be shielded for this gross misjustice.
