Denver Broncos’ quarterback Peyton Manning is planning to begin his workouts in preparation to start his 18th season in the NFL.

According to Jeff Duncan of the Times-Picayune, Manning will resume his strength and conditioning with coach Mackie Shilstone this week. This leads us to believe that backup quarterback Brock Osweiler will be waiting on the sideline for at least another year while Manning takes the front and center.

Per Duncan, Manning still plans to speak with the Broncos’ general manager John Elway before making any type of public statement regarding his intentions.

Elway had stated last month that the Broncos would like for Manning to return despite a late-season decline in production and a divisional playoff loss to the Indianapolis Colts. If Manning’s slump was mostly due to a thigh injury that he was trying to keep under wraps, then it would appear the franchise still has faith in his arm strength moving forward.

If Manning makes a go of it for one more year, he’ll likely rack up the 2,148 passing yards he needs to break former quarterback Brett Favre’s NFL record within the first half of the 2015 season. He will also be eyeing that elusive second Lombardi Trophy.

As of right now, all signs point to Manning’s return to the Broncos in 2015.
