The Chicago Bears rookies reported to training camp Monday, and Roquan Smith didn't go.

The young linebacker is one of 13 first-round picks who haven't signed their rookie contracts yet, so he's holding out until he gets a deal done, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

As Rapoport points out, it's not technically a holdout until the full team reports on Thursday, so the team has a few days to hammer out the details of a contract.

Smith's salary for each season is locked in due to the rookie wage scale. The sticking point for his deal is offset language, which determines how much money the Bears would have to pay if they released him before his contract expires.

Last year, Mitchell Trubisky didn't sign his deal until July 19, the day the rookies were able to start their preseason work ahead of training camp.

Given Smith's talent, the Bears likely aren't too concerned if he has to miss a day or two of training camp, but they should be pushing to get a deal done by the end of the week.
