The Seahawks ran a fake field goal that was so hilariously easy for the Falcons to stop

The Seattle Seahawks had some bad turnover luck in the first half, but had a chance to kick a field goal and go to halftime down 24-20. Instead, they ran a fake field goal that didn’t come close to working.

Instead of letting Blair Walsh kick a 34-yard attempt, punter Jon Ryan flipped a ball up to tight end Luke Willson who ran for all of about 0.2 seconds before getting wrapped up by Atlanta Falcons defensive tackle Grady Jarrett.

It was fourth down with seven seconds left, so unless that play went 17 yards to the end zone, the team was just going to kick a field goal anyway. And if the only good outcome was a touchdown, was a shovel pass right into the teeth of the Falcons field goal blocking unit the best way to accomplish that?

The Seahawks offense is finding success against the Falcons defense so maybe those three points won’t matter, but for now, that was a call that’ll leave you scratching your head.
