Titans roster outlook: Upgrades, downgrades or lateral moves on offense

SMG Logo By Mike Moraitis of SMG | Slide 1 of 5: Biggest addition: Cole McDonald Biggest loss: Marcus Mariota The Titans go from one of the best backup quarterback situations in 2019 to one of the worst in 2020. Now that Mariota is gone, the Titans will see who can emerge to take the backup quarterback job behind Ryan Tannehill with a competition in training camp between Logan Woodside and Cole McDonald. Neither of those signal-callers have ever taken a regular season snap, which is concerning for a team that has Super Bowl aspirations in 2020 — and it's why the Titans need to consider adding a veteran to the mix. If we're choosing a favorite ahead of camp, it has to be Woodside thanks to his superior knowledge of the Titans' offense. McDonald is also behind because of an abbreviated offseason, and he won't have an opportunity to show what he can do in game action because the preseason was cancelled. While the Titans remain solid at the starting spot, there's no question they are weaker at backup than they were at this time last year. Verdict: Downgrade
