A fitting bookend to a two-year Nats-Caps drunken championship bromance, a wild one in Florida - but do wins and beers consumed equal a hit? Find out!

This week’s games:

HITS

The pregame ceremony honoring the World Series champs and the delightful chaos that followed... Jakub Vrana’s first-career hat trick... Michal Kempny with three primary assists against Buffalo... wins in five straight and points in ten straight games for the Caps and a spot atop the League standings... averaging just three penalties a game this week... a new franchise record in consecutive multigoal games with seven (and counting?)... five-plus goals scored in all three games (and six of their last nine)... Alex Ovechkin’s two-goal night fueling a comeback win in Sunrise... Alex Ovechkin continuing to get this wide open despite 15 years of evidence that it’s a bad move to let him do so... this save:

MISSES

Dmitry Orlov with four minor penalties in his last three games, or roughly a quarter of his total for all of last season... Hey, did Nicklas Backstrom play this week?... Two of the three games with 30+ shots allowed, which makes seven of the last eight overall... Not a great week offensively for the team’s bottom-six forwards... John Carlson actually held pointless for two whole games (before snapping his drought with a three-point night, whatevs)... the DC area may actually be out of Bud Light thanks to the Nats (although maybe that’s a hit?)

THREE STARS

3) Jakub Vrana - Could have gone with a couple of candidates here, but shout-out to a huge five-goal week for Vrana that saw him take home second star of the week honors.

2) Shirtless, drunken Nats - Because... well, yeah.

1) Tom Wilson - Huge week for Wilson, with seven points (3-4-7) and his first career regular-season OT winner to keep the team’s streak alive.

Week in Review: Hit.

The hits just keep on coming, as do the wins - and what’s nice is that they’re finding different ways to capture those two points, whether by offensive dominance (i.e. the Buffalo game) or executing a thrilling comeback and OT victory (‘sup, Sunrise). Penalties were down, special teams were killin’ it, the goals are being scored in bunches... life is good. Keep it rolling, boys.
