An airline losing a traveler’s luggage can be inconvenient, but for one Texas couple, it meant temporarily delaying their engagement.

According to, Ben Adams and his girlfriend Elizabeth Kahle returned to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport on a WOW Airlines flight after a European vacation. Adams’ plan was to propose to Kahle in front of her family based in Texas.

On their way back to the United States, the couple had a layover in Iceland, but their flight to Dallas was canceled and they were re-rerouted to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York instead.

The couple finally flew back to Texas with Delta Air Lines, but they realized WOW had misplaced their luggage at some point during the adventure. The missing bag contained the engagement ring Adams planned to present Kahle.

The couple works for Norwegian Cruise Line and returned to Texas to see family as they are at sea much of the time. While in Dallas, Adams and Kahle told their story to WFAA last week, who helped get in contact with WOW officials.

Eventually, Adams found that his bags had been sent to Boston instead of Dallas, and the airline shipped the luggage to them earlier this week. With the engagement ring finally in his possession, Adams proposed to his future wife Wednesday night.

“The only reason we got our bags back immediately is because you guys reached out to WOW Airlines,” Adams told WFAA. “I get to go back to the ship with my future wife and I’m so ecstatic.”
