Photos Logo Photos | Slide 1 of 14: MAUN, BOTSWANA - NOVEMBER 2013: Atmospheric dust slowly coalesces into stormclouds, in November 2013, in Maun, Botswana. THUNDEROUS dark clouds gather above the barren Botswana landscape before a downpour of biblical proportions. The thick, black clouds signal the beginning of the rainy season in sub-Saharan Africa where ferocious storms tear through the region for four and a half months. These foreboding images capture the very moment the heavens opened at the start of the rainy season two years ago. PHOTOGRAPH BY Lee Ouzman / Barcroft Media UK Office, London. The landlocked southern African country of Botswana has been in the news as the central location in the beginning of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s adorable romance. With a population over 2.29 million, it’s one the world’s most sparsely populated nations, renowned more for its wildlife and natural beauty.
