House GOP Adding 'Companion Bill' to Healthcare Plan

According to a report, House Republicans are working on a companion to their bill that would replace "Obamacare." The second bill reportedly eases cross-state sale of health insurance and limits jury awards for pain and suffering in malpractice lawsuits. House Speaker Paul Ryan has said that he wants to move the companion bill through the House alongside the main GOP legislation that rolls back key parts of Barack Obama's signature health care law. Even though the strategy may help Ryan get the bill through the House, it is still predicted to be rejected in the Senate, where 60 votes are needed to pass the legislation.
