Lena Dunham has canceled her upcoming Lenny IRL tour on account of her endometriosis returning.

The "Girls" co-creator and star made the announcement in Friday's edition of the Lenny newsletter and on her Facebook page.

"To be perfectly honest, I'm in the greatest amount of physical pain that I have ever experienced," she wrote. "After being told I was endometriosis-free after my last procedure, more disease was found in deeper spots that required immediate surgery and now physical therapy." 100 years lena dunham planned parenthood © Provided by The Wrap News, Inc. 100 years lena dunham planned parenthood

She reiterated that while she felt it was important, she knew she couldn't commit 100 percent to the six-city tour.

"Lenny is about giving 100 percent of ourselves, 100 percent of the time, and I couldn't bear to limp through this. Not for you, our favorite people, and not for the women giving their time to join me on the road," she wrote.

Endometriosis is defined by the abnormal growth of cells normally found in the uterus on different organs and can cause the person severe pain.

The Lenny: American IRL Tour was supposed to be a gathering of frequent contributors to the online newsletter (co-founded by Dunham and collaborator Jenni Konner) to create a conversation with readers on politics, life, and anything else that a Lenny reader would be interested in.

Along with Dunham and Konner, frequent contributors such as "Saturday Night Live's" Sasheer Zamata, comedian and writer Charla Lauriston, and stand-up comedian Morgan Murphy were going to join the tour, along with writers Chloe Caldwell, Jenny Zhang, Kaitlyn Greenidge, Katie Crutchfield, Rachel McKibbens, and Jaqueline Novak.

Dunham added that she will be making personal donations to all the charities that paired up with the tour. She also said everybody's tickets will be refunded in full.

"We hope to be back when my uterus has taken a chill pill," she added.
