Peter Dinklage received a well deserved Emmy nomination Thursday morning (July 12), and in doing so he broke a huge Emmy record.

Since Season 1 of Game of Thrones, Dinklage has received a nomination for Supporting Actor in A Drama Series every year, and this year is no different. Today's nomination puts his total at seven, breaking the record for most nominated performer in this category.

He'd previously been tied with three other actors who each had six nominations a piece, but he was already the only one of them to have actually won the award twice. If he wins this year, he'll tie the record for most wins in the Supporting Actor in A Drama Series category with previous winners Art Carney, Don Knotts, and Aaron Paul.

Dinklage missed out on a nomination last year due to Game of Thrones' late premiere date, which disqualified them from the 2017 competition.

The 70th Primetime Emmy Awards will air Monday, Sept. 17 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on NBC.
