Jedediah Bila is leaving “The View.” She made the surprise announcement on Monday’s show. Watch the video below.

When the ABC talk show came back from its first commercial break, Whoopi Goldberg said, “Jed, you have the floor.” Bila then stunned the audience by revealing, “What you don’t know is today is my last day at ‘The View.'” She did not give a specific reason, nor really indicate if it was her decision, but said she has projects in the works, including a book.

“This has just been amazing journey and I appreciate all of you,” Bila told her co-hosts, adding, “I want to thank the viewers, even though the ones that send me hate tweets.” She said her untitled book is “going to shake up the world, especially the millennial generation,” and said she’s “working insanely on that.” The libertarian further teased, “You should stay tuned. There’s some good stuff on the way.”

Sara Haines chimed in, “And you’re getting married.” As Gossip Cop reported, Bila announced her engagement on the show earlier this year. She went on to say now, “This has been a really great experience. Mostly I want to speak to the viewers and say we are nothing about you… This isn’t about me, this isn’t about us. This is a conversation. It’s about serious issues.”

“We will miss you,” Joy Behar told her, but Bila promised, “I will be texting you in Italian inappropriate words of all kinds.” Sunny Hostin noted, “We rarely agree on anything, and that’s true,” which led Bila to amusingly note, “We don’t even agree when we walk in an amusement park.” Hostin added, however, “But I am honored to call you a friend.” And Behar stressed, “It’s great to have you here, because we need to have somebody who disagrees. I used to disagree with Elisabeth Hasselbeck all the time… It’s never personal. Jed has been good for the show.”

Commented Haines, “And you break down an issue really clearly… You push the heart, bring the head… I’ve learned so much from you.” Bila also thanked Goldberg, telling her, “You gave me a voice even when you didn’t agree with me. You gave me an opportunity to share my voice, and that means more to me than anything.” Check out the video below.
