Wicked Tuna star William 'Willbilly' Hathaway has died at age 36 from a car accident in Maryland

William 'Willbilly' Hathaway died at the age of 36, it was revealed on Monday.

The fisherman was a star of National Geographic's reality TV show Wicked Tuna about fishing for blue-fin tuna off the coast of Massachusetts.

He reportedly swerved off a remote countryside road and landed in a ditch. 

His wife told local papers that he had called her after the accident saying he was fine and added that he had been cut off by someone on the road.

But when an ambulance arrived he was unconscious.

According to TMZ, he was 'slumped over the center console.'

He was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead.

There is already a fundraiser for him on Facebook.

The Ocean City Fishing Community let fans know of his passing and asked for money for his family to cover costs.
