‘Ella Brennan: Commanding The Table’ Docu About Restaurant Icon Lands Deal

EXCLUSIVE:Ella Brennan: Commanding The Table, the feature-length documentary about the famed New Orleans restaurateur behind the influential Commander’s Palace, is ordering out. The pic, directed by Leslie Iwerks (The Pixar Story, Citizen Hearst), has been picked up by Octagon and Cargo Film & Releasing in a worldwide sales rights deal. Octagon is also repping life rights for Bre­nnan’s story, with an eye toward a feature film deal.

The docu, which is making the festival rounds and is narrated by Patricia Clarkson, is the behind-the-scenes story of Brennan’s rise that includes interviews with some of those she impacted including New Orleans chefs the Emeril Lagasse and the late Paul Prudhomme. They appear along with fellow chefs Daniel Boulud, Danny Meyer, Drew Nieporent and Julia Reed among others.

Iwerks & Co’s Iwerks wrote and edited the pic with Mo Stoebe and Mark Catalena. She also produced with Michael E. Tang. Executive producers are Debra Shriver and Karol Martesko-Fenster.
