UPDATE: In a statement made via ABC News, Vlasto said: “I was approached about a job in the new administration.  I had preliminary conversations with the transition team, and I’ve taken my name out of consideration.”

Chris Vlasto, an award-winning senior producer at ABC News, is in early talks with President-elect Trump’s transition team about a senior communications role.

ABC News declined to comment on the discussions, which were reported earlier by Politico.

Vlasto is currently an executive producer at ABC News’ “Good Morning America,” and has been involved in sensitive coverage related to the nation’s highest office. He was a senior producer involved in some of the first reports about President Clinton’s association with Monica Lewinsky, for example, as well as a Barbara Walters interview with her. He was named executive producer of the 7 a.m. hour of “GMA” in 2014. Michael Corn is the senior executive producer of the ABC morning-news mainstay.

In a 2014 memo, Vlasto was called “a longtime fixture here at ABC News who has worked on every program,” and “an outstanding leader who knows how to have fun.”.

It is not clear if the current talks will result in a job switch.
