Meredith Bennett, an alum of Stephen Colbert’s “Late Show” and “Colbert Report,” has joined RadicalMedia as head of operations, media and entertainment.

The hire comes as Radical has seen a big increase in the volume of TV series and documentary programming that the New York-based production shop is delivering for a range of cable and streaming outlets. As part of Radical’s expansion, the company has also recruited HBO and IFC veteran Erik Batt to serve as head of communications.

“We couldn’t be more pleased to have Meredith and Erik join the Radical family at this particularly energetic and creative time of expansion for us,” said RadicalMedia chairman-CEO Jon Kamen. “We created these positions due to meteoric growth in our Media & Entertainment division, which is thriving with the rapid increase in demand for content, particularly for the premium non-fiction projects for which we are known.”

Radical in recent months has fielded such disparate projects as the “Mars” scripted series for National Geographic TV, PBS’ “Hamilton’s America” documentary and the Epix docu-series “America Divided.” RadicalMedia’s IFC comedy “Stan Against Evil” was just renewed for a second season.

Bennett will oversee production and post-production for all film, television, documentary, branded content and short-form digital projects, in addition to managing RadicalMedia’s operations. She will report to RadicalMedia Entertainment president Justin Wilkes and work closely with RadicalMedia’s Dave O’Connor and Dave Sirulnick. She will also collaborate with Joe Killian and Jon Doran on music, brand and live-event initiatives.

Batt had been working as a consultant with RadicalMedia before signing on as the permanent head of communications. He’ll oversee PR strategies, social media and promotions for activities throughout the company, ranging from film festival submissions and premieres to commercials and live-event efforts.

Bennett most recently was part of the launch team of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” serving as an exec producer. Before that she was as producer on “The Colbert Report” from its inception in 2005. She’s a two-time Peabody and Emmy winner.

Batt’s tenure at HBO included overseeing campaigns for “Sex and the City,” “Six Feet Under” and “Angels in America.” At IFC he helped launch “Portlandia” and worked on the “Monty Python: Almost the Truth (The Lawyer’s Cut)” docu-series. As an indie publicist Batt was part of the launch team for Netflix’s “House of Cards” and Starz’s “Power.”

“Given Meredith’s unparalleled experience and expertise in overseeing all aspects of production operations and management and Erik’s many years working closely with networks and talent and promoting a wide variety of premium programming to both trade and consumer press, these additions will solidly position us for even greater things to come in the new year,” said Frank Schema, president of RadicalMedia.
