‘Moonlight’, ‘Orphan Black’, & ‘Shameless’ Among 2017 GLAAD Media Award Nominees

Nominations for the 28th annual GLAAD media awards were announced today and in the list that counts 156, only two were named in the outstanding film wide release category, Oscar frontrunner Moonlightand Paramount’s Star Trek Beyond. Cable networks dominated in the television category with Showtimes’ Shameless, BBC America’s Orphan Black, USA’s Eyewitness, and Freeform’s Shadowhunters among those vying for the award that recognizes media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the LGBT community and the issues that affect their lives.

The ceremony will take place on two night, beginning in Los Angles on April 1 at The Beverly Hilton followed by the New York on May 6 at New York Hilton Midtown. Special honorees for each city to be revealed in the coming weeks.
