A Beginners Guide to the World of ‘Scott Pilgrim'

Slide 1 of 5

Wonder what all the hype is about? We help you prepare for the summer's potential sleeper hitBy David Walker Special to MSN MoviesIf hapless, loveable loser Peter Parker and his crime-fighting alter ego Spider-Man are the superhero of Gen X, then Scott Pilgrim is the superhero of Gen Y. A hapless, lovable loser in his own right, Scott Pilgrim has no alter ego -- that would require too much work -- but that doesn't stop him from having to battle the forces of evil. And while Peter Parker never seems to be able to catch a lucky break no matter how hard he tries, Scott Pilgrim is too lazy to even look for a lucky break. Still, that hasn't stopped Scott from building a legion of loyal fans through his comic book exploits, which are now about to play out on the big-screen "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World." A multigenre mash-up of nouveau nerd geek chic, "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" stands to possibly be one of the biggest films of the summer, and perhaps even a game-changer among the world of movies based on comic books. Of course, there does seem to be a rather sizable audience of eager would-be fans awaiting the August release of the film who don't even know that it is based on the critically acclaimed, award-winning series of graphic novels. With that in mind, here are a few things that you should know about Scott Pilgrim, both in comics and film, and the world he will soon square off against in the upcoming movie.
