Are George Clooney and Stacy Keibler kaput?

By Kat Giantis Slide 1 of 15

Nothing perks up a slow gossip cycle quite like a breakup rumor, a fact that George Clooney knows all too well. A little less than four months after he quashed talk that his two-year romance with Stacy Keibler had hit the skids, and six weeks after he adamantly denied cozying up to an ex-girlfriend, another round of rift rumblings has surfaced, this time from a less-than-reliable British tabloid. It seems the Sunday People took exception to the couple's separate Fourth of July celebrations: Clooney, 52, was spotted at his villa in Lake Como, Italy; Keibler, 33, hung out with friends in Malibu."It's not like George and Stacy couldn't find time to get together if they really wanted to," contends a source. "George is quietly backing away from the relationship. It's always the same. As soon as he feels a woman is getting too close, he pulls back."Given that the pair haven't been photographed together since March, when they rendezvoused for a split whisper-quieting dinner in Germany, it's unlikely Clooney is feeling all that smothered. Besides, a source tells Radar Online, Stacy "isn't in Italy because she is working and shooting in New York and then doing a ton of press for her new show ['Supermarket Superstar'], which launches on July 22."Clooney's rep hasn't yet responded to our request for comment on the purported estrangement. While we wait to see if another rumor-kiboshing photo op will happen, click on for plenty more pics of George and Stacy's romance ...
