'Battlestar Galactica' Star Tricia Helfer Returning to Space for Syfy's 'Ascension'

Tricia Helfer is going back to space for Syfy event series "Ascension."

Helfer plays the manipulative and dangerous Viondra Denniger, the captain's wife.

Viondra regards herself as a not-so-secret power broker aboard the Ascension, a starship launched in 1963 by the U.S. government sent hundreds of men, women and children on a century-long voyage aboard to populate a new world. Viondra is afforded a position of power and privilege as the captain's wife, which she leverages as the ship's chief steward.

The actress is best known as the humanoid Cylon "Number Six" in the award-winning series "Battlestar Galactica" from Ronald D. Moore and David Eick. Helfer most recently starred on the failed ABC event series "Killer Women" from executive producer Sofia Vergara, which was pulled after six episodes.

Helfer's other television credits include Jerry Bruckheimer's "Dark Blue" for TNT and guest-starring roles on USA Network's "Burn Notice" and CBS's "Two and a Half Men," NBC's "Chuck," Fox's "Lie To Me," TNT's "Franklin and Bash," Fox's "Human Target" and Syfy's "Warehouse 13."

From "Smallville" showrunner Philip Levens, "Ascension" is produced by Sea To Sky Studios in association with Blumhouse Productions, It will be distributed by Universal Cable Productions and Lionsgate Television. It will premiere in November.

Paradigm, Lucas Talent and Gibson Entertainment represent Helfer.
