The Black List held its third annual Black Party on Tuesday evening, celebrating the 2016 Black List that supports screenwriters by ranking the best unproduced screenplays. The party was held at Palihouse in West Hollywood, Calif.

According to the organization, more than 333 Black List screenplays have been made as feature films and have been nominated for 241 Academy Award, including “Slumdog Millionaire,” “The King’s Speech” “Argo” and most recently “Spotlight.” This year, 73 screenplays made the list, as voted on by approximately 250 studio execs.

The evening began with a private reception for the writers, complete with hors d’oeuvres, charcuterie and custom cocktails, including “The Cure For Writers Block,” made with agave, jalapenos and tequila. Each writer in attendance wore a yellow pin, which signified their achievement.

Most of those who attended the party were either the writers themselves, or family and friends of the honorees. Before the event was made open to the public, Black List founder and CEO Franklin Leonard gave a champagne toast to honor the scripts and its writers that made this year’s list.

“[The Black List] has become a thing that I am enormously proud to do with an amazing team of people,” stated Leonard. “Our whole reason for existing is to identify and celebrate great screenwriting and the people who write them. Tonight … congratulate yourselves.”
