Dancing With The Stars co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet has revealed she held off on telling her kids about her cancer diagnosis for fear they would worry too much about her health. The former model seemed at peace when she announced her throat cancer diagnosis to fans in early November (12), but Burke-Charvet was apprehensive about telling her loved ones - especially her four young kids - about the unexpected health scare. On Wednesday (05Dec12), she wrote in her Modern Mom blog, "I decided not to tell my children about my diagnosis for as long as I possibly could because I didn't want them to worry. I know that my younger ones still don't have a great concept of time and I didn't want them to be anxious, worried and asking 1,000 questions." The 41 year old's eldest kids, daughters Neriah and Sierra, were the first to learn of her cancer, but processed the news in very different ways - with one more emotional and concerned, while the other was more scientific and factual about the process. However, for her youngest kids, five-year-old daughter Rain and four-year-old son Shaya, her diagnosis proved to be extremely frightening for the two. The star wrote, "Children process things so differently. My son is four, and said, 'Is Daddy going to get it too?... I don't want Mommy to die'." Burke-Charvet will be going in for thyroid surgery and a thyroidectomy - the removal of all or part of the thyroid gland - this week (begs03Dec12).
