CBS, ‘Young & the Restless’ Top Daytime Emmy Award Nominations

CBS and its stalwart soap “The Young & the Restless” lead the pack in nominations for the 2017 Daytime Emmy Awards.

CBS grabbed a total of 70 noms, paced by “Young & the Restless” with 25 bids.

In the daytime entertainment talk show host heat, the contenders including newcomer Harry Connick Jr., for his syndicated series “Harry,” and Wendy Williams, for the syndicated “Wendy Williams Show.”

ABC’s “General Hospital” and CBS’ “Bold and the Beautiful” were second to “Y&R” with 23 noms apiece. Those three soaps plus NBC’s “Days of Our Lives” rounded out the drama series category.

In the running for entertainment talk show honors are ABC’s “The View” and CBS’ “The Talk,” the syndicated “Ellen DeGeneres Show,” “Maury” and “Live with Kelly.”

Joining Williams and Connick in the entertainment talk show host category are Kelly Ripa of “Live,” the hosts of “Talk” (Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Aisha Tyler and Sheryl Underwood), “View” (Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Candace Cameron Bure, Raven Symone, Paula Faris, Sara Haines, Jedediah Bila and Sunny Hostin) and the syndicated “The Real” (Tamar Braxton, Adrienne Houghton, Loni Love, Jeannie Mai and Tamera Mowry-Housley).

Game show noms went to the syndicated strips “Celebrity Name Game,” “Family Feud” and “Jeopardy” and CBS’ “The Price is Right” and “Let’s Make a Deal.”

The winners in top categories will be handed out April 30 at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.
