CNN relied in the months before the recent Presidential election on a former Trump advisor, Corey Lewandowski, for perspective from Americans who supported the then-Republican candidate for President. Now the network will seek similar help from Jason Miller, a Trump campaign official who had been slated to take on a larger communications role at The White House.

CNN confirmed Miller’s appointment, which was mentioned during an internal meeting among staffers at the Time Warner-owned cable-news outlet on Wednesday.

Miller, formerly a senior communications director for the Trump campaign, had been was appointed  White House communications director, but decided not to take the job, citing family concerns. Miller made an appearance on CNN’s “Reliable Sources” this past weekend.

Lewandowski, whose tenure on CNN brought criticism that he was still receiving payments from the Trump campaign while holding forth on the network under a non-disparagement agreement, stepped down from his on-air role in November of last year.

CNN has made a point of hiring contributors versed in Trump’s campaign and political mindset for its programs – part of an effort to show viewers the network solicits viewpoints from all sides. Kayleigh McEnany, Scottie Nell Hughes, and Jeffrey Lord have been among the on-air analysts who have taken part.
