Debunking the week's tabloid stories

Brad Pitt “wins custody” of his and Angelina Jolie’s six children, declares the cover of In Touch. The publication reports it also has details of the “secret settlement” and “his new life with the kids.”

The magazine reveals that while Jolie’s “war with Brad is nastier than ever,” and she tried hard to gain sole custody of the kids, Pitt has been awarded joint custody. “Angelina has lost, and she’s humiliated,” notes the outlet, which quotes a source as saying, “Angie gave up… Brad has won and is getting shared custody.”

Of course, that’s not really what the misleading “wins custody” cover implies. It was designed to trick readers into thinking Pitt suddenly got full custody of the children. And while it’s true Pitt is seeing his kids a bit more these days, no permanent “settlement” has been “reached,” as alleged by the tabloid. Gossip Cop similarly busted In Touch’s sister publication, Life & Style, when it recently exclaimed, “Brad Wins! Angelina Hands Over The Kids.”

Jolie and Pitt may eventually decide to share custody, but whenever an agreement is actually finalized, it probably won’t be In Touch or Life & Style that breaks the news. An impeccable source confirms exclusively to Gossip Cop that Pitt has NOT won custody at this time.

Katie Holmes © Getty Katie Holmes

Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx have “split over Scientology,” according to the National Enquirer.

The publication quotes a source close to Foxx as saying, “Jamie is upset with Katie’s constant paranoia about Scientology… He feels like if he can’t protect Katie, then she’ll never be safe.” “So at some point he had to give up,” adds the insider.

Jamie Foxx © Getty Jamie Foxx

The magazine reveals Holmes is afraid Scientologists will “brainwash” her daughter Suri into leaving her. “She’s looking out the window all the time, and when she’s not with Suri, Katie’s checking every message,” leaks the outlet’s tipster. “This isn’t what Jamie signed on for,” concludes the insider.

For starters, Gossip Cop can confirm Holmes and Foxx are not together nor were they romantically involved. Therefore, there wasn’t a split, nor was this non-existent breakup a result of Scientology. Holmes and Suri live their lives normally, and are not paranoid about the religion, nor is the actress concerned about her daughter being brainwashed and leaving her.

Gossip Cop checked with Holmes’ rep, who calls the tabloid’s tale “crazy” and “stupid,” while a spokesperson for Foxx also tells us the publication’s article is a “complete fabrication.” Sadly, we’re not surprised, having previously corrected the magazine when it falsely reported Holmes and Foxx were “secretly married” and she was having his baby.

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez © Getty Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez

Justin Bieber recently warned Selena Gomez he’s writing a nasty song about her new boyfriend, The Weeknd, reveals In Touch.

An insider tells the magazine, “[Bieber] left a voicemail on Selena’s phone, and he knew she would have [The Weeknd] listen to it. In it, Justin told him to ‘watch out’ because he was going to drop a song that was ‘more real than anything you’ve ever heard’ if [he] didn’t back down.” Now, notes the outlet, it’s “war.”

The Weeknd © Getty The Weeknd There’s no question Bieber is unhappy about the situation. He has publicly let it be known that he “can’t listen to a Weeknd song.” However, Gossip Cop has learned he did not leave the voicemail the tabloid claims he did. An impeccable Bieber insider, who acknowledges he’s not overjoyed by Gomez dating The Weeknd, assures Gossip Cop the so-called “voicemail” that threatened her new boyfriend never happened.

Of course, this is all coming from the same magazine that Gossip Cop recently busted for falsely claiming Gomez and The Weeknd have been secretly dating for a year, yet also reported in November that she was getting ready to marry Bieber. Like those provably wrong stories, the latest article is similarly inaccurate.

Star © Star Star

Jennifer Garner has filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, reveals Star. The publication announces on its cover, “Jen Finally Ends It!” The magazine further notes, “Following a blowout fight, Jen is finally ready to pull the plug and move ahead with a divorce.”

The “nasty fight” took place last month, reports the outlet, which quotes a source as saying, “It was like they were both ready to unload all of their frustration and anger that had been building up over the past couple of weeks… Jen’s had it up to here with Ben’s drama. She wants out.”

Of course, this is all coming from the same tabloid that Gossip Cop busted for falsely reporting Garner and Affleck renewed their vows last November, and that the actress was pregnant.

Nothing has changed: Garner and Affleck didn’t renew their vows, but they’re not imminently divorcing either. Gossip Cop is exclusively told that while they have ups and downs, they remain close and their friendly co-parenting dynamic continues with no major changes.

We’ve also learned that no “fight” took place, and that the tabloid didn’t bother to reach out to vet its claims before publishing them. It is certainly conceivable Garner or Affleck will eventually file for divorce. But that hasn’t happened just yet.

Kanye West © Getty Kanye West

Kanye West is “headed for another breakdown,” reveals In Touch. “Three months after Kanye suffered a devastating mental breakdown… he’s struggling mightily to cope,” writes the publication.

A source tells the magazine, “Kanye is most definitely not himself right now.” “Those close to him fear he could be headed for another breakdown,” adds the outlet.

After noting that West’s “exact diagnosis remains the subject of speculation,” the publication’s source says, “He goes through these times when he is sullen and depressed or manic.”

Basically, the tabloid has no idea what West’s issues are, nor does its supposed “insider.” Among the glaring problems with the magazine’s tale is that it offers no proof whatsoever that West is “headed for another breakdown,” and its purported “insider” has no inside information about the rapper. A rep for West assures Gossip Cop the article is untrue, and a second source tells us that contrary to the outlet’s claim, “He’s doing great.”

To say that In Touch’s track record with West is spotty would be an understatement. In the past, Gossip Cop has busted the tabloid when it wrongly claimed West “dumped” Kim Kardashian after the Paris robbery, “dumped” her when she was pregnant, and “dumped” her on their anniversary. Maybe it’s time the magazine dumps its West sources.
