Dirty job prompted Iggy Azalea to quit cleaning houses

6/17/2014

Rapper Iggy Azalea knew it was time to quit cleaning homes in her native Australia and follow her music dreams after she found herself having to clean up human faeces on a doormat. The Fancy hitmaker was a teenage maid after leaving school and regularly had to get down on her hands and knees to clean up mess left by others, but one job was too much for her. She recalls, "I found poo once on a doormat... It was one of those spiky doormats that gets the dirt off the bottom of your shoes... It was definitely human and it was just welcoming me to my magical job." But Azalea admits it wasn't such a bad job - she learned a lot about people and found some very interesting things. She particularly liked cleaning up after lesbians, telling U.S. late night host Chelsea Handler, "They leave some of the most interesting things in hotel rooms. I found a lot of cucumbers in the freezer!" And her housekeeping past has turned her into a neat freak now she owns a home. She adds, "Now I have OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder), so in my own house I'm really anal about it (tidiness). If someone washes their hands and they leave any splashes of water on the sink, you can't come to the house again."
