Whitesnake star Doug Aldrich has quit the band to concentrate on a solo career. Frontman David Coverdale confirmed the news via Twitter on Friday.

He writes, "It is with a heavy heart we bid adieu to super guitarist Doug Aldrich who is leaving WS to pursue a solo career. Fare Thee Well, My Brother!" The guitarist was a member of the group for 11 years and featured on two studio albums, "Good to Be Bad" and "Forevermore."
