Eddi Reader: 'Scotland needs to break from the U.K.'

6/18/2014

Fairground Attraction singer Eddi Reader has urged her fellow Scots to back plans to break away from the U.K. to save their country. The Perfect hitmaker is a big fan of Scottish independence and she has called on her countrymen and women to vote 'Yes' in the upcoming referendum to ensure Scotland departs from the administration of the British Isles. She tells Sky News, "The way I think it is now, the current model that includes Scotland, it doesn't really work democratically well for Scotland. There's real frustrations and trouble in Scotland that we can, I think, by voting 'Yes', we can only fix them by having governance of ourselves... "There's a real sense for me that we can have unions as grown-ups, as equal partners, without being held to this... ancient structure. We can have control of our money, which is what it's all about... This is about our future and it's about confidence and democracy." Scotland goes to the polls to vote on independence on 18 September (14).
