Fall 2013 TV trends: International remakes

Slide 1 of 6

Here's what you can expect to see this upcoming seasonBy Michaela SinclairSpecial to MSN TVWith dozens of pilots set to premiere this fall television season, we've caught on to the many trends that have emerged to help you navigate your upcoming viewing experience. In this third part of our series, we take a look at the trend of international remakes, as seen in upcoming series "Betrayal" on ABC, "Hostages" on CBS and "Us and Them" on FOX.For years, American networks have retooled dozens of foreign television series for a domestic audience -- and this year is no different -- but many of them failed miserably at connecting with their viewers. Remember "Kath and Kim" (Australia), "The Ex List" (Israel) and "Skins" (UK)? Exactly, neither do we. Most recently, however, we've seen a surge of successful remakes brought to us from the Brits across the pond. HBO's "Veep," the political satire starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus, is based on the same concept as BBC's long-running "The Thick of It." Showtime's latest hit "Shameless" is a Chicago-based version of the one set in Manchester, England. Even Syfy has a stake in the vampire fan base with its remake of "Being Human," a series featuring a vampire, werewolf and ghost as roommates.Bing: 'Betrayal' | 'Hostages' | 'Us and Them'What international remake would you like to see?
