Fall 2013 TV trends: Spin-offs

Slide 1 of 6

Here's what you can expect this upcoming seasonBy Michaela SinclairSpecial to MSN TVIn part eight of our 10-part series on this fall's TV trends, we look at spin-offs and how the networks' love of them brings us several this fall.Everything old is new again once spin-offs take over television this fall. A flurry of new spin-offs are joining existing ones like "Law & Order: SVU" and "NCIS Los Angeles," with even more being considered for development. The CW confirmed that its latest hit, "Arrow," will be a launching pad for another DC comic book hero, the Flash, and its long-running series "Supernatural" is leading to a Chicago-based spin-off. Even "Breaking Bad" producers have been considering a Saul Goodman-led prequel. While we're debating whether this could be the best or worst idea ever, it's no secret that for every great spin-off, a terrible one exists. Most fans of "The Simpsons" don't realize that it actually started as a sketch on "The Tracey Ullman Show." Meanwhile, we've conveniently forgotten about "Time of Your Life," the "Party of Five" offshoot starring Jennifer Love Hewitt that couldn't even make it through a full season. (For Hewitt, that was definitely not the time of her life.) Bing: 'Once Upon a Time in Wonderland' | 'Chicago PD' | 'The Originals'What spin-off do you want to see?
