A slew of Fox movies received dates on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, including two mystery Marvel movies.

An untitled Marvel movie was dated for Nov. 2, 2018, putting it up against Disney’s live-action “Mulan” and an untitled Paramount release. Anther unspecified Marvel movie nabbed the date of Feb. 14, 2019.

Meanwhile, Ridley Scott’s “Prometheus” sequel, “Alien: Covenant,” was pushed up several months, moving from Aug. 4 to May 19, 2017. Another sequel, “Kingsman: The Golden Circle,” was moved off its previous date of June 16, 2017, back four months to Oct. 6, 2017. An untitled Marvel movie was also pulled from the Oct. 6 date.

In other news that set the rumor mill ablaze: Fox set a date for a movie from James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment, planting its flag on Dec. 21, 2018. This is widely speculated to be Cameron’s highly anticipated, much-delayed sequel to 2009 mega-hit “Avatar.” The first “Avatar” opened on the same week in December.

Fox holds rights to a variety of Marvel properties, and the untitled films could be “Deadpool” sequels, as well as additions to the “X-Men” franchise. The studio also retains rights to “Fantastic Four,” and a Gambit movie starring Channing Tatum has still not started pre-production, suffering from several delays.

Other Marvel movies are on the release calendar for March 2, 2018 and June 29, 2018, both similarly unspecified.
