Jake Gyllenhaal in Talks to Star in Jean-Marc Vallée Drama 'Demolition'

Jake Gyllenhaal is in talks to star in Jean-Marc Vallée's upcoming drama "Demolition," an individual familiar with the project told TheWrap.

Based on the 2007 Black List script by Bryan Sipe, "Demolition" centers around a an investment banker struggling with the death of his wife. He is rescued by a woman he meets by chance.

Gyllenhaal most recently starred in Denis Villeneuve's "Enemy" and stars in Dan Gilroy's upcoming directorial debut "Nightcrawler," which Gyllenhaal also co-produced.

Vallée is coming off the success of "Dallas Buyers Club" and directed "Wild," the Nick Hornby adaptation of Cheryl Strayed's memoir slated for a December 2014 release through Fox Searchlight.

"Demolition" is co-financed and produced by Black Label along with Mr. Mudd Productions. Lianne Halfon, John Malkovich and Russell Smith produce for Mr. Mudd, and Molly Smith, Thad Luckinbill and Trent Luckinbill serve as producers for Black Label.

Jason Reitman and Helen Estabrook executive produce along with Vallée's manager and producing partner, Nathan Ross, who also produced "Dallas Buyers Club."

Gyllenhaal is represented by Patrick Whitesell, Brent Morley and Cliff Roberts at WME.
