A documentary following a year in the professional and personal life of Oscar-nominated actor James Franco is nearing completion from first-time director Lisa Vangellow, TheWrap has learned.

"Franco: A Documentary," which started filming in June 2013, will focus on Franco's controversial exploits in academia and the art world, as well as touch on his conventional film career Broadway debut.

Vangellow, who also produced the documentary, had access to Franco's family and close friends. Seth Rogen and Klaus Biesenbach, curator of New York's Museum of Modern Art, are just two of the names expected to appear in the film, according to individuals familiar with the production.

The project, which currently in early editing stages. Veteran Curtiss Clayton, who is also cutting Franco's upcoming "Bukowski," is signed on to edit.
