Kaiser Chiefs to play for England's soccer World Cup team

6/17/2014

British rockers Kaiser Chiefs are to play a private gig for England's soccer team before they fly out to Brazil for this summer's (14) World Cup tournament. The band, fronted by Ricky Wilson, will perform for the sports stars at a special dinner event to celebrate their departure to South America ahead of the games, which begin next month (Jun14). Wilson tells Britain's The Sun newspaper, "It's just a treat for them before they fly out to Brazil. Their final leaving dinner." The singer has previously voiced his hope that the band's latest single, Coming Home, would be adopted as an unofficial anthem for the team during the tournament, saying, "Hopefully, Coming Home will be played when England are carrying the World Cup on the plane back home."
