Lifetime Orders MENSA Competition Series 'Child Genius'

Lifetime is on the search for the smartest kid in America on its new series, "Child Genius."

The cable channel has given an eight-episode order to the series that will follow MENSA's national intelligence competition this summer, which will test the children in current affairs, history, memory, science, spelling, math and debate. One child will be named Child Genius 2014. It will air later this year.

Produced by Shed Media ("The Real Housewives of New York City," "Basketball Wives LA"), the series is currently casting its cast of smart kids at http://www.shedcasting.com/ChildGenius/ and at http://mylifetime.com/shows/child-genius.

The series is based on the British format of the same name from Channel 4.

Pam Healey, John Hesling and Dan Snook will serve as executive producers, along with Lifetime's Eli Lehrer, Mary Donahue and David Hillman.
