LIBSON, Maine (AP) — Mainers are holding the 35th annual celebration of all things Moxie without the event's founder.

Frank Anicetti, known as "Mr. Moxie," created the Moxie Festival in 1982 in Lisbon Falls to pay tribute to the quirky beverage that he loved.

Anicetti, who died in May at 77, was being remembered Saturday at the festival that featured a parade, chugging contest, and other events.

Moxie, Maine's official drink, dates back more than 100 years. The creator of the bitter beverage was a Maine native, Dr. Augustin Thompson.

The three-day event wraps up Sunday.
